Services
We will come to visit you in your own home to go through our cleaning service and find out what you are looking for from your cleaner. Allocation of a cleaner should be within a few days of the appointment, occasionally in village areas it may take a little longer. The appointment usually lasts around 30-40 minutes.
We offer a flexible service and it is up to you to decide whether you want the whole property cleaned or just certain key areas. You may be able to do a certain amount of the cleaning yourself, in which case choose less hours. You may have children and have toys and items that need tidying up, in which case you would need to add time for the cleaning.
We have many customers across Herts & Bucks, who use our excellent and thorough cleaning service. Once our cleaners commit to working for SelClene, they must be able to make the same commitment each week on a long term basis. We only select reliable cleaners with a proven track record in previous employment.
She managed to achieve an unbelievable clean in 8 hours and has given the kitchen a completely new lease of life! It would be great if you could pass on our thanks. I'm pleased with Selclene and have been a happy domestic cleaning customer for about 5 years now. They are professional with high standards. As a renter this helps me when the landlord agency visit - they have commented more than once that the place is spotless. So that's another benefit to me, everyone's happy. Thanks Selclene!

The cleaners are great and trustworthy - the management Iain Bloom who runs the franchise Im afraid is not. My cleaner ended her contract and I was due 2 months back pro rata from payment. I also by mistake paid an extra month. It took me best part of the year from emailing, chasing, trying to get in touch with the MD (who basically says its franchise not my problem).
Finally get Iain to respond and several months chasing I get my mistaken payment back but he withholds the additional 2 months, stops replying to me and any emails. Cheating, dishonest and absolute failure. Google this same issue and many others say the same. I would avoid using this company and find a local cleaner you can pay direct without agency fees.

It took you three years to respond to my review. Enough said The issue I had in December was with SelClene rather than the cleaner. A stand in lady ruined my new hob by scratching it repeatedly. Mistakes happen but it was upsetting considering our kitchen is only a year old. I contacted SelCelne fully expecting them to sort out a replacement and they were utterly useless.
They passed me to their insurers who contacted me to tell me I had to research my own quotes and even if I did find one, the excess I would have to pay would make the claim pointless. Obviously this is unacceptable. Why do I have to pay the excess on SelClene's insurance policy? Anyway I decided not to pursue it as life is too short and worse things happen.
The following week two expensive, brand new wine glasses were broken. I contacted Selclene and once again they were useless. Again, worse things happen but the whole point of hiring a cleaner through an agency and paying agency fees is for peace of mind when something goes wrong. Research a private cleaner and don't waste your money on SelClene fees. I just found a new one through a recommendation on the St Alban's Mums Facebook page and I'm sure there must be other forums out there where you can source a great cleaner.

I've never felt it necessary to review a company on Google before now, but that was before I had dealings with Selclene. The cleaner did turn up reliably on a weekly basis, and cleaned to a just about satisfactory level without being outstanding. The problem arose when I tried to terminate the service. I requested it to stop last July, and the company continued to take a quarterly fee from my account to the tune of almost 300.
I requested a refund in early January, and more than two months on, I am still waiting for it. The staff in the St Albans office are unhelpful and borderline rude; head office staff, while more polite, still don't seem to be capable of processing the refund despite repeatedly promising to. Incredibly poor.

The first cleaner they sent, did not clean properly but kept saying it "would take time to get on top of things", complaining that she needed more hours. Then the 3rd week she turned up late. No notice, no apology but instead she kept arguing - that it did not matter what time she arrived, then that was the right time. Horrible attitude not someone I wanted in my house.
I aked her to leave and informed Selclene. 2nd lady they sent, would stop and talk for 10mns+ at any oportunity. Walked into my daughters bedroom while my daughter was changing, though she was told not to enter that room. Wiped the floors without cleaner. Then after 2 weeks she forgot to turn up. For this I paid 98 "arrangement fee" for a total of 5 weeks substanded cleaning that I had do over myself and stress.
I cancelled the contract with Selclene. Their reponse was - too bad, no refund, that's how it is. Their cleaners may have "references" but they are cetainly not trained. Horrible company, sub standard cleaners!

We stopped using them as the cleaner they sent was completely unreliable and dishonest, so brought into question SelClene's reference process. Paid a three month fee and got nothing for it in practice so a complete waste of money. I would strongly recommend finding a cleaner with a personal recommendation even if it takes more effort. If you need to use an agency I would recommend Molly Maid who were fine even if more expensive.

The cleaner was pleasant but at the end she asked me to sign a checklist to say I was happy with the clean. I mentioned that I haven't gone through the whole list of items mentioned on the sheet. She told me not to worry and just to confirm I was happy with the clean. I signed it but afterwards realised that in 6 hours, not much really looked different.
She then said I would need another 8 hours to get the house clean. I paid 150 for 6 hours and they only sent one cleaner. I personally couldn't see 6 hours work. I contacted Selclene after via email and got a brief reply saying they are surprised at my email. I then followed up as I then found more cobwebs that hadn't been dealt with. I specifically asked the cleaner to first remove all the cobwebs.
I then got no response whatsoever! Terrible, terrible company. ***UPDATE TO RESPONSE BELOW**** The response below is hilarious. The cleaner did not have to answer the door to a single person the whole time she was cleaning, as I had cancelled the washing machine installation. There is no landline in the house so she would not have had to answer the phone either. Considering I specifically asked her to remove the cobwebs first, I found cobwebs afterwards in 3 other places.

We were really pleased with our cleaner until she claimed for time, which we later discovered she had not worked. Selclean tried hard to get the money back from her and gave us 5 compensation as a goodwill gesture, but this did not cover the amount our cleaner claimed for. As the contract was between us and the cleaner it has been left for us to claim the money back through the Small Claims Court, Selclean have said there is nothing more they can do.
So we have been left with the hassle of going to court. We have written evidence of the cleaners fraud (signed time sheets and texts), yet Selclean do no want to see this evidence. Although Selclean are not giving her new work, they have continued her work with her other existing clients. An agency knowingly keeping a dishonest worker on their books does not deserve higher than the lowest rating.

I've personally only had positive experiences with Selclene, both Frances in the Selclene office who has always been very helpful, and my current cleaner Nicky who does a brilliant job. I have recommended Selclene to my next-door neighbour and she too is thrilled with the professionalism of the company and her new cleaner :-

We've used Selclene for a "Spring clean" several times and couldn't stop marvelling at the excellent job Gabriella did on every occasion. Everything sparkled and she didn't stop from the time she started to the time she finished. It was really easy to book and the office staff were lovely and efficient. Previously to our move to a smaller house (with the children moved to their own places) we used Selclene for a weekly clean using a number of different cleaners over the years.
They consistently transformed teenage bedrooms from places you didn't want to go in to sparkling palaces that were a pleasure to enter. The administration of the service was straightforward and easy to understand. We had tried several other cleaning companies and independent cleaners before but found this service the best option.
